How to make a colour appointment last

Most colour does not fade because of the colour. It fades because of what happens in the two weeks after you leave the chair.

Give it 72 hours

The cuticle stays slightly open after a colour service. Washing too soon lets pigment escape before it has properly settled. Where you can, leave it three days.

Water temperature matters more than shampoo

Hot water lifts the cuticle every single wash. Lukewarm, and a cool rinse at the end, will do more for your colour than most products will.

Heat without protection is the fastest way to undo it

Straighteners and tongs sit far hotter than colour-treated hair can comfortably take. If you use them, use a heat protectant every time, not just on the days you remember.

Book the refresh before you need it

Colour is easier to maintain than to rescue. A planned toner or gloss keeps the tone honest and costs far less time in the chair than a correction.
